22 migrants die off Greek coast after six days at sea

Greece's coast guard on Friday rescued 26 people hoping to reach Europe from North Africa after they had spent six days at sea in a rubber boat. According to survivors, 22 others lost their lives during the journey. The number of migrants who died trying to reach EU soil more than doubled during the first two months of 2026.
